One of the joys of twitter are the spoof accounts. I follow Larry the cat from 10 Downing Street (@Number10cat) and I used to love the rather vacuous Maude the Cow, before she was bought and ruined by Anchor Butter as they tried to make her commercial. No, I'm not going to provide a link to them, they don't deserve one. There are few spoof accounts that are as well executed as Elizabeth Windsor (@Queen_UK). By the Grace of God, Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, wife to the DoE etc etc.
If you're on twitter, I heartily recommend following @Queen_UK. Always topical and often hilarious, you can't help but enjoy these tweets. And you will wonder what the real Queen really thinks, since she doesn't ever share her true opinion, at least not in public.
Gin O'Clock is more or less the twitter feed expanded. Behind the daily tweets, you get the full diary entry with the Queen's thoughts on every topic. No one gets off lightly, especially the politicians of the day. Well worth the read, but perhaps after a more weighty book and when you are in the mood for something not-so-intellectual. There are plenty of laughs to be had in there.
My only criticism, if I may be so bold, is the all-too-frequent sales pitch for the book that pollute the twitter feed. Please don't take oneself the way of Maude!
