Well folks it's that time of year again - Baking Season. When the days are long and the work is short, it's time to get busy in the kitchen.
Today I decided to try chocolate chip cookies. Always a favourite of mine in terms of consumption, but I have not attempted to make them myself until today.
Like a good Blue Peter presenter I got my ingredients ready;
Yes, you're right, it took me four goes to guess the weight of the butter. There's an egg in the blue mixing bowl in case you're wondering, bicarbonate of soda so brilliantly white you cant see it in the ramekin in the foreground, and vanilla extract in the ramekin on the right. You can probably guess the rest - although I wonder if you knew that the ramekin on the left has "golden" granulated sugar? I didnt know that was a kind of sugar until today.
Together they became this;
And then this, which I readily admit doesnt look great;

And finally it all makes a happy chef;
I'm feeding them to colleagues at work tomorrow. I'll post their verdict.
