Credit Crunchy Times

We have seen some big names suffer in these credit crunchy times. Woolworths was a shocker for us all. And the little people are suffering too. My blog today is inspired by the sad news that my favourite card and gift shop has closed down. I dont know if the whole chain has gone under or what, but today as I trekked over to the Met Quarter in Liverpool in search of birthday cards I was dismayed to see the shutters down at Parchment. I had to go to Paperchase instead. Sorry Catherine, David, Dee and Sue... your birthday cards will still be good this year, but not as good as they might have been.

I really loved Parchment. They offered a refreshingly different mix of gifts, books and stationery that you couldn't find everywhere else. Their mission was to seek out books, stationery, gifts and other products that were inspirational, design-led and individual. There were gifts in their ranges for every taste and every occasion. And their gift stationery was equally inspired. Whatever it is you were celebrating, they had something to suit, from a special occasion at the office (or ‘after work’) to a major wedding anniversary.

I would have taken a picture of the closed store (such was my sudden sadness) to share with you all but the staff were actually packing up as I peered in, and I didnt want to be insensitive. Here is a reminder of happier times, taken from their website;

The picture wasnt the only thing I took from their website in case you hadnt guessed.
