Having settled into a sort of blogging pattern with a regular Monday blog, it has all fallen apart in the last wee while! It's not laziness, it's busyness. Busyness is a real word... I looked it up just to be sure.
Lets have a summary of activities since Friday a week ago, Bridget Jones style;
- Miles by car - 578
- Miles by train - 176
- Distant friends seen - 5
- Scarves lost - 1
- New people met - 12
- Towns visited - 4
- Scarves found - 1
- Pounds spent in toll booths - 9.4
So what was all this activity about?
With the most of the snow gone I could finally make it down to see Ceri in Peterborough. We tried to remember when my last visit was and we guessed it was last May... Unbelievable! Time flies I guess.
Most of the tally of new faces above comes from meeting Ceri's friends that I've heard of but never met in the flesh. On Friday it was out for dinner and drinks in Stamford with ones from work. Ceri is the best host I know for breakfast... After a traditional many-coursed feed we headed into London to see a show and get some dinner. Given that it was Valentines night I think that we did very well to find two seats together in the west end. We saw Carousel starring Lesley Garrett except much to the disappointment of the man in the seat behind me she wasn't actually in it. Just before the show we had a quick drink with Lisa and Mike after their Valentines dinner. Lisa is one of Ceris uni friends.
Sunday saw us off to Cambridge for bridesmaid dress shopping. Now ive never helped with something like that before. I think I imagined long hours of agonizing over options... Oh no... This was shopping Ceri style... They chose the first dress they found, leaving plenty of time lunching etc. The bride to be is Jo and the other bridesmaid is Katy... Both old uni friends. I know none of the people who will attend the wedding actually read this blog, so I can show you the dress for interests sake;

In other Cambridge news, we discivered the world's smallest mobile coffee shop in the market;

Back at Ceri's house we were joined after dinner by Will, Ceri's round-the-corner neighbour and good friend. So it was a great weekend and I wouldn't change any of it, but I was glad to get back to Liverpool where I know everybody!!
The other highlights of the weekend were seeing the last of the snow in Britain, and fighting a vicious enemy in Ceris bathroom.
I found this snow at a service station off the A14 in Cambridgeshire.I was attacked on Sunday morning in Ceri's bathroom by a particularly evil shower head. On Saturday I had discovered the shower loose and liable top fly off without warning soaking the bathroom... But this morning marked a new dastardly low in its behaviour... As I switched it on the shower head flew off, and before spraying straight up and drenching the ceiling, it quickly got me in the eyes first so that I would be incapacitated and unable to stop it drenching the rest of the room. Sneaky.
After what was probably the busiest visit to Peterborough I have ever had, the rest of the week offered no chance to slow down;
Monday: It was a quick dash back up to Liverpool on Monday morning to see Elaine & Jose before they flew back to Ireland. Fortunately they were running a little later than I had thought so there was time for an emergency hoover and mop to get the house into some sort of order.
Tuesday night is cinema night - Dee and Lyndsey boosted the usual motley crew (Paul, Erinne & me) to see Disney's Bolt.
Wednesday: an invitation to lunch with school friends sounds like it make take a few hours... 9 hours after meeting up I caught the last train home. Good meal and good company keep a person busy.
Thursday: might have been a night in front of the TV and early to bed after Ceri cancelled her visit to Liverpool, but Nic & Matt invited us out and so it was another late one.
Friday saw Ceri's delayed arrival, and you know how busy a good meal with good company can keep you...
Saturday: after a lazy morning and shopping with Ceri in Liverpool One (and getting stuck in the carpark for a bit since the pay machine couldnt accept credit cards or cash) I headed over to Erinne and Paul's where Erin and Martin were visiting to join them for tea and a friendly game of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. We won the million! Pity the cheque displayed on screen doesnt print out!

And so thats it all for now.... after posting this blog entry, I will start tidying etc ready for next weekend when Paul Ruegg will be visiting. My feet aren't hitting the floor this weather and I love it!
Oh just before finishing, thanks to all those who completed their homework from the last post. So, thanks to Kari really.
