Always look on the bright side of life.

My ash cloud delay isn't all bad. Here are my top five silver lining
highlights:

1. Extra time with the family. Only a few hours, but on such a short
trip, a few hours is a massive increase in percentage terms.

2. New experiences, like driving up the motorway on a bus. It was the
airport express.

3. Tasty diversions. An excuse to pop in to O'Brien's for example. 3
words: bacon, brie, melt. Yum-a-ding!

4. Unassailable get-out clause. I had double booked myself for
meetings this afternoon. I was going to have to turn down one or the
other and be embarassed and annoyed with myself. This way, I could
turn down both for a reason neither can argue with.

5. Last but by no means least: Sight Seeing. An airport departure
lounge is a fabulous place for people watching. You get all sorts,
young and old, beauty and the beast, haute couture and faux-pas. I
honestly wouldn't mind waiting around a little longer, but only a
little.
