Razzle Dazzle at Christmas

So we put our tree up last night. I know it's not December yet but it's the last weekend before Christmas we were both free to do it.

We remembered as we dug everything out of the cupboard that our beautiful* multifunctional lights died last year, so we rushed out to B&Q to get some new ones. Eco-friendly LEDs seem to be the way to go these days. There were loads of boxes of beautiful* multifunctional sets but we wanted mono-functional ones, and the only boxes that didn't say multifunctional were sets of 80. We bought 3.

Pulling them out of the box, we were delighted** to discover they were beautiful* multifunctional ones.

So now to get them to simply glow and not flash etc, we have to press a button 7 times on 3 control switches. Excellent***

To add to our joy**** if you dont crawl under the tree for 21 button presses, the default setting for random-through-the-settings has the 3 sets acting independently. One set might be doing the 'lightning storm' while another does the 'ambulance' while another does the dreaded 'lighthouse'! The combination adds a new, not before seen level of multifunctionality - the 'indicator' - which leaves you expecting your tree to take off in a particular direction once the junction is clear.

So we don't need lots of lights in the shape of popular Christmas characters on the outside of our house to impress everyone. We don't need a holly wreath on the door. We don't need a "Santa STOP here" sign in our [non-existant] garden. We are already impressing the neighbours and passers-by who look in our window to admire our supermultifunctional lights.

I feel full of seasonal joy!

  1. Your names of the different settings is actually perfect! We just bought new ones too, but we were put off by the £40 LED set. I can't remember why that was now...
