New beginnings

After many years of talking about it, Dee has finally moved into her new school. New school building that is... they built a new building on the playing field and the new playing field will go where the old building is I think. I got the grand tour just before the Easter hols and I was very impressed I have to say. Its a beautiful building and really makes it feel like a vibrant learning community.

I was particularly impressed with Dee's own classroom. In only a very short amount of time she has filled it to the brim with a feast for the eyes. After a short while I began to see my own influence on the room... I have been more supportive than I thought. Nestled among books and toys on the resource shelves I noticed my awol tool kit;

I began to wonder if I had been supportive in other ways too. It turns out I had been. My suitcase, containing my map of London among other things;

And this apron belongs in our kitchen...
And this fire bucket belongs in our back garden...

But the highlight of the tour was the "Big Writing" display in the foyer. The accrostic poem displayed below has a brilliant comment regarding the impact of the move to the new school on staff;
N is for Nervous Breakdown - our teachers nearly had a nervous breakdown.

Website of the week
I have a really useful site for you this week - the kind that will come in very handy indeed, if not today, certainly at some point in the near future. This site calculates exactly where you would end up if you dig a big hole in the ground where you are, keep going through the centre of the earth and come out on the other side of the planet. Sorry to disappoint those who grew up thinking Australia would be their destination!
